Things To Do in Forest Lake
When it comes to fun things to do in Forest Lake, most locals flock to the lake for fishing, boating, and just about any water sport you can imagine. With a high population of northern pike, largemouth bass, walleye, and plenty of panfish species, many consider Forest Lake to have some of the best fishing in all of Minnesota—which really isn’t all that surprising given it’s one of Minnesota’s 100 largest lakes. Ice fishing in the winter is also popular here and up until recently, Forest Lake played host to the annual Fishapalooza ice fishing tournament, which discontinued back in 2012. Other attractions in the area include the Running Acres Casino and Racetrack, Tanners Brook Golf Course, Forest Hills Golf Course, and the Hardwood Creek Wildlife Refuge, which features a scenic 9.5 mile multi-use trail that’s probably among the best outdoor attractions in the entire county.
