Living in Grant
If you’re looking for lots of living space and plenty of open land, Grant is an excellent place to begin your home search. In fact, mandated zoning regulations since 1976 ensure most homes are set on a minimum of five acres, with the average lot size in town having right around 10 acres. Some homes in Grant are of course set on smaller lot sizes due to development prior to the 70s, but even still, most homes here include plenty of space and room to roam free.
Farms are plentiful all throughout the Grant community, which anymore, are mostly all family-run or just for personal use. But although living in Grant is generally all about a rural lifestyle, that doesn’t mean you’ll be far from all the big city lights that surround the lively and energetic Twin Cities. Downtown St. Paul is only about a 20 minute drive away on most days, while Minneapolis isn’t much further and usually only takes about 30 to 40 minutes to get to from most homes in the Grant area. Those who love being outside should thoroughly enjoy calling Grant home, though, as the landscape largely features a tranquil blend of hardwood forests and wide open prairie and wetlands, with a few ponds, streams, and small lakes mixed in between. There’s also a fairly extensive trail system known as the Gateway Trail here, which is well known and frequently used by local residents for horseback riding, snowmobiling, mountain biking, and hiking.
Grant Real Estate at a Glance
As with most rural communities in Minnesota, or anywhere for that matter, single-family homes tend to dominate the local real estate landscape. As alluded to above, many offer lots of open land for owners to use, and most even include a few out buildings that can be used for additional storage too. Furthermore, potential home buyers shouldn’t have much trouble finding available land or even a few home lots on the market, just in case you’re somebody who may be looking to build a home from the ground up. Keep in mind that once moving to Grant, there really isn’t much to offer in terms of a downtown and all the amenities typically associated with a commercial core, which for the most part is its only downfall.
