Mahtomedi MN Homes for Sale

Founded back in 1900, the city of Mahtomedi is dubbed a “small town city”, which after you’ve been here awhile seems to make plenty of sense. A tight-knit community that lives much larger than it actually is, there’s never a lack of things to see or do here in Mahtomedi, MN, which in many way is the town’s best attribute. Mahtomedi initially got its start by being little more than a popular summer retreat that was filled with charming waterfront cottages and not much else. Today, the general vibe and ambiance really hasn't changed much, although most people who call Mahtomedi home now do so all year long.

Living in Mahtomedi

Mahtomedi conveniently sits on the east shore of White Bear Lake, which of course is what makes it such a desirable place to live. With a surface area of around 2,427 acres, White Bear Lake is easily one of Washington/Ramsey County’s best lakes for fishing, boating, and other outdoor recreation. In addition to the lake itself though, Mahtomedi has a rich and unique history that directly relates to its resort-town past, which includes the construction of Wildwood Amusement Park—an attraction that opened up all the way back in 1889 but eventually closed in 1932 due to huge financial losses.

Today’s local home owners in Mahtomedi are still focused on enjoying White Bear Lake and all the trails, parks, and other outdoor spaces that go along with it. To them, there’s no better place to spend a summer than right here in beatiful Mahtomedi, MN, and frankly, it’s hard to disagree. Aside from White Bear Lake, there’s also plenty of other community amenities to enjoy as well, including a number of restaurants, shops, and a few other small lakes and ponds that are perfect for a quiet day of fishing and enjoying the tranquil Washington County landscape.
